Born and raised in Jamaica, Yanique attended Florida Atlantic University, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She went on to pursue her Master of Fine Arts in Media Design from Full Sail University.
With over 13 years of experience in the design industry, Yanique has made a significant impact in the field. She has been recognized as an expert in Brand Development and Graphic Design by the United States Department of Labor. Her work in promoting diversity and inclusivity in design has been widely celebrated, and she has become an advocate for underrepresented voices in the industry.
Yanique’s career has been characterized by her passion for business and her dedication to making a difference in the field of graphic arts. She currently serves as the President of the Graphic Artists Guild, where she advocates for the rights of graphic artists and provides resources and support to help them thrive in the industry. She also serves as a Vice President of the International Council of Design, where she works to promote equity in the design profession on a global scale.
In addition to her professional achievements, Yanique is known for her vibrant personality and her love of learning. She is described as open-minded, direct, transparent, and fun, with a unique and quirky approach to life. She is a creative thinker who loves to explore new ideas and find innovative solutions to challenges.
Yanique’s journey to becoming a graphic designer was not without its challenges. Despite her passion for art, her mother was initially skeptical of her decision to major in it in college. In her mother’s eyes, if it wasn’t law, medicine, or engineering, it was pointless. But Yanique persevered and eventually earned her Master’s degree in Media Design.
After joining the workforce, Yanique worked with major brands such as HBO’s Game of Thrones and True Blood, Clear Channel Media Group, and Under Armour. However, she struggled to keep a full-time job for more than two years at a time. This led her to become a solopreneur and eventually join the Graphic Artists Guild.
Even before becoming President of the Graphic Artists Guild, Yanique was seen as a thought leader in Brand Development, Design, and Business. During her early years with the Guild, she gained valuable knowledge of industry pricing strategies and how to formulate win-win contracts. Her contributions to the Graphic Artists Guild’s Handbook: Pricing and Ethical Guidelines have been instrumental in helping graphic artists navigate the business side of the industry.
Today, Yanique continues to inspire and make an impact in the design industry. She is a sought-after speaker and consultant, sharing her expertise on branding, design, and diversity with audiences around the world. Her passion for making a difference in the industry is infectious, and her fun-loving personality makes her a joy to work with.
For corporate event marketers and planners, Yanique’s expertise in design and branding can be invaluable as corporate events is one of her many areas of expertise. Her understanding of the corporate identity, marketing objective and event execution can help companies create powerful and effective branding strategies that resonate with a diverse range of audiences.
