To stand out in graphic design for events and tradeshows, designers need to excel in creativity, customer service, and quality. YKMD Visual Communications is one graphic design company that’s turning heads today, so we sat down with Yanique DaCosta, the owner, founder, and Creative Director. She shared with us how she got where she is and where her company is headed.
“I got into graphic design as a way to bring together my love for aesthetics and problem-solving while trying to find a viable way to make a living as a creative in the big bad sea of corporate America.” DaCosta told us. “As an immigrant to the states, that was my American dream.”
DaCosta began her American dream when she was in college. “I had difficulty finding an internship and wanted to gain real-world experience to hit the ground running as soon as I got that degree. I started reaching out to the organizers of the various social events I frequented and I asked them to give me a shot at creating design work for them to promote their events.” DaCosta’s resourcefulness took her from a student looking for an internship to a business owner. The rest, you could say, is history in the making.
As of 2023, YKMD employs graphic designers around the worldand produces designs for event marketers and planners.“Tension fabric makes up about 35% of our product offerings,” DaCosta told us. “This innovative medium allows for unique, eye-catching designs and is an excellent option for many of our clients.”
But DaCosta doesn’t keep YKMD in a box. YKMD’s specialty is, well, whatever the client needs it to be. “Our broad spectrum of expertise allows us to help our clients create memorable events that surpass their company’s goals.” DaCosta said. “While we’ve had numerous clients in the tradeshow industry, our services extend to all kinds of corporate events. This could encompass conferences, brand activations, launch parties, road shows, and even concerts. Graphic designs for events are what we do!”
The future for YKMD is one of innovation, growth, and continued service excellence,” DaCosta said. “In the next 5-10 years, our vision is to elevate our offerings to the next level, becoming a leading graphic design firm in the U.S. We plan on expanding our portfolio and capabilities by embracing new technologies and design trends, and always staying ahead of the curve to offer the most effective and exciting design solutions to our clients.”
And in utilizing their Tri-Create System™, YKMD is sure to achieve these lofty goals by streamlining clients’ needs. This approach has already impacted the way customers consider and manage their graphic design needs. “By refining this system, we aim to offer an even more streamlined, efficient process that eliminates bottlenecks and ensures our clients’ marketing campaigns stand out in a competitive landscape,” DaCosta explained.
The future is bright for YKMD Visual Communications, and we are excited to see what this company accomplishes down the line.
